Tanzanian national football team, Taifa Stars, are aiming to secure a second straight win in the CHAN 2024 tournament as they prepare to face Mauritania on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Head coach Hemed Suleiman ‘Morocco’ said his players are in good shape and ready for the challenge. He confirmed there are no injuries in the squad and the team is physically and mentally prepared.
“Our goal is to collect three more points. We know it won’t be easy, but the team is focused,” he told reporters on Monday.
Tanzania began their CHAN campaign with a 2–0 win over Burkina Faso on August 2. The victory has boosted the team’s morale and confidence ahead of the upcoming match.
Coach Morocco said the players understand the importance of staying focused in every game. He believes the current squad has the quality to perform well and move to the next stage.
“We are taking one game at a time. The squad is united and determined,” he said.
Goalkeeper Aishi Manula also expressed confidence. He said the team is well-prepared and motivated to earn another victory.
“The first win gave us confidence. We know tomorrow’s match is even more important, and every player is ready,” said Manula.
He added that securing six points from the first two matches would strengthen their position in the group and give them a better chance to qualify for the next round.
Tanzania are banking on their recent form and home support as they face a strong Mauritanian side in what is expected to be a tough but crucial match.
