Samia pledges major road upgrades in Morogoro

CCM presidential candidate Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday energized Morogoro residents as she promised to expand and modernize the region’s road network, aiming to make travel easier and boost local trade.

During campaign rallies in Ngerengere and Morogoro town, Dr. Samia said she will push to complete the 11km Ubena Zomozi–Ngerengere road, where construction is already 24 percent done.

She also pledged to accelerate works on the Msavu–Kibigwa Junction road in Morogoro municipality and finalize the 254km Morogoro–Dodoma highway, including key bridges at Kibaigwa.

Dr. Samia further committed to finishing the Ifakara–Mahenge road (67km) and building the 125km Kibena–Lupembe–Madeke road to connect Morogoro with Njombe between 2025 and 2030.

“These projects will cut transport costs, open markets for farmers, and make trade smoother for businesses in Morogoro,” Dr. Samia told supporters.

Residents cheered her announcements, saying improved roads will transform daily life and economic activities in the region.

The rallies marked the first day of her Morogoro campaign tour, where she highlighted infrastructure as a key part of her development agenda.
