Mkalama District Executive Director Asia Juma Messos has urged the Ministry of Energy to strengthen oversight of its agencies to ensure energy projects are implemented efficiently and contribute effectively to national development.
Speaking after touring the Ministry’s pavilion at the ongoing NaneNane International Agricultural Exhibition in Dodoma, Messos said that while the government has made significant investments in energy infrastructure—including electricity and natural gas—successful outcomes depend on the commitment and performance of implementing institutions.
“The government has been allocating substantial resources to development projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of citizens,” she said.
He added that “It is vital that the Ministry continues to provide close supervision so that its institutions deliver on these mandates with efficiency and impact.”
During her visit, Messos also toured pavilions of key institutions under the Ministry of Energy, including the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), Rural Energy Agency (REA), Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA), Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA), and Tanzania Geothermal Development Company (TGDC).
She was accompanied by Mpwapwa District Administrative Secretary Michael Maganga, Dodoma District Administrative Secretary Sakina Mbugi, and Eliasifu Mlay, Assistant Director of Administration from the Ministry of Agriculture.
The visit aimed to assess how the Ministry’s institutions are using the NaneNane platform to engage the public and showcase progress in the energy sector, particularly in expanding access to clean and affordable energy.
