By The Respondent Reporter

The Uhuru Torch Race has continued to symbolize hope and development as it made its way through Iramba District in Singida Region, where Finance Minister and West Iramba MP, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, was praised for his effective oversight of public funds in advancing service delivery across Tanzania.

Leading the national torch team, Mr Ismail Ally Ussi commended Dr Nchemba’s stewardship during an inspection and foundation stone-laying event for the Konkilangi Bridge and a 1.5-kilometre gravel road project in Iramba.

"Thanks to the government’s strong financial supervision, we are witnessing significant progress in infrastructure, water, health, education, electricity, and other essential services that are directly transforming lives. Congratulations to Dr Nchemba for your tireless efforts in supporting the President to ensure that Tanzanians access quality services," Mr Ussi said.

Dr Nchemba reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering on its development agenda as outlined in the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) 2020–2025 Election Manifesto, noting that President Samia Suluhu Hassan has provided resolute leadership in improving service delivery and addressing the needs of citizens.

"President Samia has demonstrated visionary leadership in removing long-standing barriers to development. Her efforts are evident in improved access to social and economic services that benefit the entire nation," Dr Nchemba said.

He urged Tanzanians to maintain unity and rally behind the government’s initiatives, warning against incitement and actions that could disrupt national cohesion.

“The government belongs to all of us, and national development requires collective responsibility. Let’s continue to support ongoing efforts and reject divisive rhetoric,” he added.

During the torch’s visit, seven development projects valued at TSh7.8 billion were inspected, inaugurated, or had foundation stones laid.

These included key initiatives in water supply, education, health, and road infrastructure.

One of the standout projects was the Nsusu Village water scheme, expected to serve more than 4,000 residents who have faced water scarcity for years. Villagers expressed gratitude to the government for ending their hardship.

“This project has brought back our hope. We used to walk long distances to find water, but now we have clean and safe water right here in our village,” said one resident.

The 2025 Uhuru Torch theme “Jitokeze, Shiriki Uchaguzi Mkuu wa Mwaka 2025 kwa Amani na Utulivu”  underscores the importance of peaceful civic engagement and upholding the values of national unity and democracy established by Tanzania’s founding leaders.

As the symbolic torch continues to light the path across the country, it carries with it a message of solidarity, progress, and the shared vision of building a better Tanzania for all.
