Tanzania weather update: sunshine, showers, and cool nights ahead

By The Respondent Reporter

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has released the official weather forecast for the next 24 hours, providing important updates for citizens across the country.

Weather conditions will vary by region, with a combination of sunshine, clouds, and isolated rain showers expected in different parts of Tanzania.

In the Lake Zone regions Kagera, Mara, Geita, Mwanza, Simiyu, and Shinyanga residents should anticipate partly cloudy conditions with isolated thundershowers, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours.

These areas will also enjoy sunny intervals during the day. In the coastal belt, including Unguja and Pemba isles, Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Pwani (including Mafia Isles), Morogoro, Lindi, and Mtwara, the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy with light rain showers over a few areas.

Sunshine will dominate the rest of the day, contributing to warm and humid conditions typical of the coastal climate.

The northern highlands of Arusha, Kilimanjaro, and Manyara are expected to remain dry, with partly cloudy skies and long periods of sunshine.

These favorable conditions support daily activities and travel. Similarly, central and western regions such as Kigoma, Tabora, Katavi, Dodoma, and Singida will experience partly cloudy skies and sunshine throughout the day, with no significant rainfall expected.

In the southern highlands and southwestern regions Ruvuma, Iringa, Njombe, Rukwa, Songwe, and Mbeya weather conditions will be cool and dry.

Residents should prepare for chilly mornings and evenings, especially in high-altitude areas like Njombe and Mbeya.

Temperature forecasts show a wide range across the country. The highest temperature is expected in Tabora at 31°C, while the lowest will be in Njombe at 8°C.

Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar will remain warm, with highs of 29°C and minimum temperatures around 21–24°C.

Sunrise times range from 6:29 AM in Tanga to 7:05 AM in Kigoma, while sunsets will occur between 6:13 PM and 6:54 PM, depending on the region.

Coastal wind speeds are expected to reach up to 30 km/h, blowing from the south along the northern coast and from the southeast in southern coastal areas.

The state of the sea is expected to be moderate, allowing safe conditions for fishing and other marine activities.

Looking ahead to Friday, June 20, 2025, only slight changes in weather patterns are expected. Citizens are advised to stay informed through official updates and take necessary precautions where rain is forecasted.
