The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) is leveraging the ongoing Public Service Week commemorations in Dodoma to champion domestic tourism and raise awareness about the country's unique natural and historical heritage.

Operating under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism pavilion at Chinangali Park, NCAA has attracted hundreds of visitors to its booth, where experts are engaging the public on the diverse attractions available within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The initiative has sparked widespread interest, particularly among residents who were previously unaware of the site’s global significance.

Many visitors praised the depth of information provided, expressing newfound appreciation for the area's iconic landmarks such as the Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge, and Laetoli footprints sites that have cemented Tanzania’s place as a key location in the story of human evolution.

“I feel proud to know that Tanzania is home to such a monumental global heritage the Cradle of Humankind. This is something every Tanzanian should witness. I now dream of visiting Laetoli with my family to see the fossilized footprints,” said Theresia Steven, a Dodoma resident who toured the NCAA booth.

The Public Service Week, which officially began on June 16, 2025, will culminate tomorrow, June 23, with a grand celebration expected to be graced by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa (MP), as the guest of honour.

NCAA’s participation underscores its commitment to increasing local understanding and ownership of Tanzania’s protected areas.

By fostering domestic tourism, the authority hopes to not only boost visitor numbers but also promote sustainable conservation through national pride and engagement.
