Dar es Salaam. KIUT Volleyball Club has stamped its authority on the regional scene after both its men’s and women’s teams emerged champions in the 2025 Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League, which concluded on Sunday night at the Kampala grounds in Dar es Salaam.
In the women’s final, KIUT displayed a composed performance to defeat TPA 3-1 and secure the title, walking away with a trophy, gold medals, and a cash prize of Sh1 million.
TPA, who put up a commendable fight, settled for second place with Sh500,000 and silver medals, while Jeshi Stars came third, pocketing Sh250,000 and bronze medals.
The men’s team delivered an equally impressive performance, defeating High Voltage in straight sets (3-0) to complete KIUT’s historic double victory.
The champions were awarded Sh1 million, medals, and a trophy. High Voltage, who had beaten KIUT in both previous league rounds, settled for second place with Sh500,000 and silver medals. TPA secured third place and earned Sh250,000 along with bronze medals.
In the Series B category, IP Sports emerged champions in the men’s division and, along with TPDC and Nyika, earned promotion to next season’s Series A.
For the women, Chui Volleyball Club, TPDC, and Wazo qualified for promotion after strong performances throughout the campaign.
Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) president, Eng. Magoti Mtani, congratulated all winning teams and applauded the players’ commitment, expressing hope that many would feature in the upcoming Tanzania Volleyball National League (TVNL), scheduled for next month.
He also commended the efforts of the regional association and team managers, who covered participation costs from their own resources.
“I would like to thank all sponsors who supported this year’s league and encourage more stakeholders to join hands in advancing the sport next season,” said Eng. Mtani.
DAREVA chairman Fredy Mshangama described the league’s outcome as a 90 percent success, highlighting increased team participation, growing competitiveness, and rising public interest as major milestones.
“We’ve seen strong performances and enthusiasm across the board. This is a positive signal for volleyball in Dar es Salaam and across the country. I would also like to thank members of the media for their contribution in promoting the league,” said Mr Mshangama.
KIUT head coach Said Alhaji Issa attributed his teams’ success to discipline, consistency in training, and learning from past defeats.
“Our men’s team had previously lost to High Voltage in both league rounds, but we took time to analyse our weaknesses and adjust our strategy. Tonight’s result is proof of the team’s resilience and commitment,” said Coach Issa.
The conclusion of the 2025 Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League sets the stage for further national exposure, with eyes now turning to the forthcoming TVNL fixtures.
