Residents of Mbeya Region and neighboring areas will benefit from a specialized ophthalmology camp organized by Mbeya Regional Referral Hospital in collaboration with  Maryprisca Mahundi, Member of Parliament for Special Seats and Deputy Minister for Information, Communication, and Information Technology.

Scheduled from June 30 to July 4, 2025, the camp will bring a team of distinguished eye specialists from Germany to provide advanced eye care services alongside local medical professionals, all free of charge at the hospital commonly referred to as “Mkoani.”

The five-day initiative will offer comprehensive eye examinations, treatment for a spectrum of ocular diseases, and surgical interventions for patients deemed eligible after thorough assessment.

Additionally, the program will deliver expert consultations on eye health management and preventive care strategies.

Authorities encourage early patient arrival, starting daily at 8:00 a.m., to ensure efficient service delivery amid high demand.

This medical camp reflects ongoing international cooperation aimed at bolstering Tanzania’s healthcare infrastructure, particularly within ophthalmology a sector often challenged by limited access to specialist care.

The involvement of German experts underscores Tanzania’s commitment to leveraging global partnerships to enhance healthcare quality and expand service accessibility in underserved regions.

Hospital leadership highlights the strategic significance of the camp in capacity-building and knowledge transfer to local practitioners.

Participants are advised to adhere to medical guidelines during the camp to maximize operational efficiency and patient outcomes.

Beyond immediate clinical benefits, the initiative serves as an educational platform to raise public awareness about the importance of regular eye screenings and proactive eye health maintenance.

For additional information, residents can contact Mbeya Regional Referral Hospital or consult the hospital’s information desk.

This intervention is poised to significantly improve ophthalmic care delivery and patient quality of life in Mbeya and adjacent regions.
