The Boxing Federation of Tanzania (BFT) has given its Technical Committee a two-week deadline to submit the names of boxers selected during the recently concluded National Open Championship held in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, BFT Secretary General Makore Mashaga said the move aims to ensure the Technical Committee promptly forwards the shortlisted names to the BFT Executive Committee for review and final approval.

“This timeline will allow the Executive Committee to evaluate and officially endorse the selected players, ensuring we have a well-prepared and qualified team,” Mashaga explained.

He emphasized that the selection process not only identifies new talent but also integrates them with athletes who have been continuously training with the national team in preparation for upcoming international competitions.

“We believe the Technical Committee has been working diligently and professionally. We're confident they will present us with athletes who meet all the necessary criteria and can represent the country effectively,” he added.

Mashaga also made a public appeal to stakeholders, sponsors, and corporate partners to support the national boxing teams, especially in their preparation for international events.

“We call on companies, organizations, and individuals to join us in empowering these athletes. Their support is vital in ensuring our teams are ready whenever called upon to represent Tanzania on the global stage,” he said.
