Residents of Ruvuma Region and neighboring regions of Njombe, Lindi, and Mtwara have been urged to take full advantage of the advanced healthcare services offered at St. Joseph Peramiho Hospital, which now boasts a well equipped Emergency Department and a team of qualified medical professionals.
This call was made on May 10, 2025, by Mr. Ismail Ali Ussi, the National Leader of the Uhuru Torch Race, during the official inauguration of the new Emergency Medical Department (EMD) building at St. Joseph Peramiho Referral Hospital, located in Songea District, Ruvuma Region.
“The National Uhuru Torch has passed through and inspected this facility, and I can confidently say the project is well executed and of high quality. I encourage citizens, including those from neighboring regions, to come and benefit from the services provided here,” said Mr. Ussi.
The event also featured remarks from the Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Peramiho Constituency, Jenista Mhagama, who underscored the strong collaboration between the government and the private health sector.
“This partnership is not about competition, but about cooperation. To demonstrate our commitment, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is covering the salaries of 295 staff members working at this mission hospital,” said Minister Mhagama.
The Uhuru Torch is currently touring Ruvuma Region, marking its second day of activities in Songea Rural District.
Tomorrow, the torch will continue its journey to Mbinga District Council, where it will inspect, inaugurate, and lay foundation stones for several development projects.
