The battle for dominance in the Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League (DAREVA) continues to intensify as the competition gains momentum at the KIUT grounds in Dar es Salaam.
IP Sports delivered a commanding performance, defeating Twalipo in straight sets (3-0) in one of the headline matches of the day.
JKT secured a solid 3-1 victory over Jeshi Stars, while Kigamboni handed UDSM a similar 3-1 defeat. Best Six also proved too strong for Wazo, claiming a 3-0 win, and in a tightly contested match, Giraffe edged TCTA 3-2 in the men’s division.
In the women’s matches, KIUT cruised to a 3-0 victory over Jeshi Stars. TPDC mirrored that result with a 3-0 win against Wazo, while TPA narrowly beat JKT in a thrilling five-set encounter (3-2).
Robin Msigwa, the Acting Technical Chairman, praised the high level of competition in this year’s league.
“We’re seeing an increase in intensity and preparation among the teams. Every team is aiming for the title and a spot in the Tanzania National Volleyball League (TVNL),” he said.
The league is currently in its second round, and the mid-season transfer window, which closed on May 6, saw teams bolstering their squads with international talent.
“These foreign signings have brought fresh energy to the league and provided valuable learning experiences for local players,” added Msigwa.
He also urged sports stakeholders and fans to show their support, emphasizing that their involvement is key to the success of the league.
“We welcome all sports lovers to join us, support these athletes, and enjoy the exciting matches on display.”
