Fresh off a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Azam FC, Young Africans SC (Yanga) have turned their attention to the quarterfinals of the CRDB Federation Cup, where they are set to face Stand United on April 15 at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
As the defending champions of the competition, Yanga are keen to maintain their grip on the title and continue their strong run in domestic competitions.
According to the club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ally Kamwe, preparations are already underway, with the technical bench working to ensure that a full-strength squad is ready for the challenge.
“We’ve begun our preparations in earnest, and the team is in good shape. We’re going into this match with a complete squad ready to compete,” Kamwe stated.
While Yanga play in the top-flight Premier League and Stand United compete in the Championship League, Kamwe cautioned against underestimating their opponents.
He noted that second-tier clubs have already demonstrated their ability to spring surprises in the tournament.
“We’ve seen Championship League teams defy the odds and knock out Premier League sides. That’s why we’re taking this match very seriously. Stand United is a tough team in their league, and we won’t allow ourselves to be complacent,” he emphasized.
Kamwe also highlighted the role of supporters, calling on Yanga fans to pack the stands and provide their trademark energy and encouragement.
“Our fans are our biggest strength. Their passion and presence in the stadium have always given us a psychological edge. We’re urging them to come out in large numbers and rally behind the team as we aim for another cup final,” he added.
With just days to go before the clash, Yanga’s focus is firmly on maintaining their winning momentum and keeping their title defense alive.
All eyes will be on the team as they look to assert their dominance and move one step closer to lifting the CRDB Federation Cup once again.
