Yanga face Stand United today in Federation Cup

Young Africans SC (Yanga) are set to battle Stand United this evening in the final quarterfinal match of the CRDB Federation Cup at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.

Three teams Simba SC, Singida Black Stars, and JKT Tanzania have already booked their spots in the semifinals.

The winner of today’s clash will claim the last available place and join the trio in the next stage of the tournament.

Speaking ahead of the match, Stand United head coach Juma Hussein expressed confidence in his team’s readiness to take on the giants.

“We’re fully prepared for Yanga. It won’t be an easy match, but we respect them and we’re going in with a solid game plan,” said Hussein.

“Yanga have very few weaknesses, especially when facing teams considered underdogs. We must play smart and avoid unnecessary mistakes because they can easily capitalize on them. That said, this is a huge opportunity for our young players to showcase their talent and prove their potential.”

Hussein also noted that his technical team has worked on the players’ mindset to relieve pressure and boost their confidence ahead of the high-stakes match.

Meanwhile, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ally Kamwe, emphasized that they are not taking Stand United lightly.

“This will not be an easy match. We’re playing against a team that has a 70 percent chance of earning promotion to the Premier League next season,” said Kamwe.

“They are a well-structured side and will be eager to leave their mark. However, we are focused on our objectives and committed to delivering the results we need.”

Kamwe added that Yanga is treating every match with the seriousness it deserves as they push to lift the trophy.

“We’re not underestimating anyone. Our goal is clear advance to the next stage and keep our hopes of winning the title alive.”

In the semifinals, Simba SC will face Singida Black Stars, while JKT Tanzania will take on the winner of today’s game between Yanga and Stand United.
