Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Mpango, has called on parents, especially mothers, to guide their children, particularly the youth, to refrain from engaging in political violence during the upcoming General Election scheduled for later this year.

Dr. Mpango made the remarks shortly after attending Easter Mass at the Catholic Church of Blessed Maria Theresa Ledochowska Parish in Kiwanja cha Ndege, Dodoma.

He urged Tanzanians to participate in the elections peacefully and calmly, emphasizing that violence is not part of Tanzanian tradition.

“Let us uphold our culture of peace. I appeal to parents, especially mothers, to educate and advise their children to avoid being swayed into violence during campaigns and elections,” said Dr. Mpango.

He also called upon all those who will be entrusted with managing the elections to adhere strictly to the laws and guidelines provided and to ensure fairness to all candidates seeking leadership positions.

Additionally, the Vice President advised road users to exercise caution and responsibility when using motor vehicles to help prevent road accidents and save lives.

Dr. Mpango also took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to all Tanzanians celebrating Easter, urging them to mark the occasion in peace and happiness.

The Easter service was led by Father Dionis Paskal Safari and attended by various worshippers, including the Vice President's spouse, Mama Mbonimpaye Mpango.
