Treasury registrar meets with TANAPA on budget plans

The Office of the Treasury Registrar held a budget consultation meeting with members of the Budget Committee of the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) today, April 10, 2025.

 The meeting took place at the conference hall of the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School in Kibaha, Coast Region.

The session was chaired by Peter Maungo, Assistant Director in the Department of Public Commercial Entities Management. Its main objective was to review and approve TANAPA’s proposed budget for the 2025/2026 financial year.

The proposed budget focuses on expanding investment opportunities, introducing new tourism products, upgrading tourism infrastructure, enhancing strategic protection through the use of technology, and supporting conservation and research activities. It also aims to increase employment opportunities in line with international quality standards (ISO).

Additionally, the budget outlines measures to control invasive plant species and mitigate the impact of dangerous and destructive wildlife.

 It includes plans to provide conservation education to communities surrounding protected areas and to implement various other development initiatives.

The TANAPA Budget Committee was led by Commissioner for Conservation, Juma Nassoro Kuji, who was accompanied by senior experts from different departments of the organization. 

During the meeting, Commissioner Kuji gave a detailed presentation on TANAPA’s strategic direction for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

 He underscored the importance of maximizing resource efficiency, strengthening management systems, and enhancing collaboration between TANAPA and stakeholders in the conservation and tourism sectors.
