Tanzanian football giants Simba SC have confirmed that their preparations are halfway complete ahead of the highly anticipated second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) semi-final against South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC. The match is scheduled for April 27 in Durban, South Africa.
Simba head into the return leg with a slight advantage after securing a 1-0 win in the first leg, held on April 20 at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
The solitary goal gave Simba a crucial edge, meaning a draw in South Africa would be enough to send them to the final of the competition.
According to Simba SC Coordinator Abbas Ally, the club has already completed 50% of its preparations and is now focused on finalizing the remaining part ahead of their travel.
“My colleagues and I are heading to South Africa to make sure everything is in place before the team arrives,” said Ally.
“We want the players to land in South Africa and focus solely on their preparations for the match. Our goal is to make sure nothing distracts them.”
He emphasized that Simba’s main objective is to reach the final and eventually lift the CAF Confederation Cup, a feat that would mark a significant milestone for the club.
“Our ambition is not just to qualify for the final, but to win the trophy. We believe in our players, and we are committed to giving them everything they need to succeed,” he added.
The first-leg performance was a display of determination and tactical discipline from Simba, who capitalized on home advantage to claim the narrow victory.
The return leg promises to be a tense and closely contested affair, as Stellenbosch will be looking to overturn the deficit in front of their home crowd.
Simba’s technical bench and support staff are now working around the clock to ensure the team is mentally and physically ready for the challenge ahead.
With just a few days remaining before the match, the focus is on fine-tuning tactics and maintaining peak fitness.
A win or draw in Durban would not only earn Simba a place in the CAFCC final but also boost the club’s profile on the continental stage, affirming their status as one of Africa’s top football clubs.
