The Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, and Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, has officially announced the revival of the Serengeti Music Festival, now rebranded as the Samia Serengeti Music Festival.
In a statement, Msigwa shared that this highly anticipated event is set to bring together top artists from various genres on one stage, a move that underscores the country's growing influence in the music industry.
"This festival is a significant moment in our cultural calendar," said Msigwa. "Under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, we aim to not only celebrate music but also foster unity through the power of the arts. It will be a historic event, attracting audiences from across the region and beyond."
The festival is scheduled for April 26, 2025, at the Tanganyika Packers grounds in Kawe, Dar es Salaam.
With festivities set to begin at 4:00 AM and continue until late into the night, attendees can look forward to a day filled with high-energy performances and cultural celebrations.
The opening ceremony will be graced by Dr. Tulia Ackson, the Speaker of the National Assembly and President of the World Parliamentary Union. Her presence highlights the national significance of the event and its potential to boost Tanzania’s cultural standing on the global stage.
"I am honored to be part of such a historic occasion," said Dr. Ackson. "The Samia Serengeti Music Festival represents not just entertainment, but also the opportunity to showcase our nation’s rich cultural diversity to the world."
Organized by the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports in collaboration with BASATA, the festival is expected to feature a stellar lineup of celebrated Tanzanian musicians, including Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, AliKiba, Jaymelody, Zuchu, Rayvanny, Nandi, and many others. Each artist will perform a blend of their latest hits and classic songs, ensuring an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages.
Msigwa highlighted the unique aspect of the event, saying, “This will be more than just a concert—it will be an immersive cultural experience.
We’re bringing together some of the biggest names in the industry, and the lineup is only the beginning. The festival will feature performances that blend contemporary music with traditional African influences.”
A standout feature of the festival will be the construction of a state-of-the-art stage, which has been designed specifically for this monumental event.
"The stage will incorporate the latest in technology, from advanced lighting systems to impeccable sound quality," said Msigwa.
"Its design integrates modern aesthetics with natural elements, creating a perfect environment for both the performers and the audience. This is a festival that will be remembered for years to come."
As excitement builds for the Samia Serengeti Music Festival, it is clear that the event will not only set a new standard for music festivals in Tanzania but will also serve as a platform for showcasing the nation's cultural and artistic excellence on the global stage.
