The Minister for Finance,  Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba (MP), emphasized the government's strong focus on infrastructure development, particularly the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), to stimulate economic growth and attract investment.

Speaking in Warsaw, Poland, during a meeting with the Tanzanian Ambassador to Germany, who also oversees Poland,  Hassani Iddi Mwamweta, Dr. Nchemba stated, "We are prioritizing the development of critical infrastructure, especially the SGR, as a means to accelerate our economic growth and enhance investment opportunities."

Dr. Nchemba went on to share that the first two sections of the modern railway—from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro and from Morogoro to Dodoma—are already complete and operational.

"The third and fourth sections, from Makutopora to Tabora and from Tabora to Isaka, are where we are actively seeking funding to complete the construction," he added.

Furthermore, Dr. Nchemba commended Ambassador Mwamweta for his effective role in managing Tanzania's economic diplomacy in the countries he represents.

"Ambassador Mwamweta has done an outstanding job in promoting Tanzania's economic diplomacy, and we are confident that the country offers numerous opportunities for investment," he said.

He further encouraged Mwamweta to continue advocating for investments that would foster national economic development.

Dr. Nchemba also highlighted that other infrastructure sectors, including energy, agricultural production, livestock, fisheries, and natural resources, are being prioritized to build a sustainable future.

"We must ensure that our youth are equipped with the skills needed to produce and access markets," he noted.

In his remarks, Ambassador Mwamweta briefly outlined his work, noting that the improvements made by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in railway infrastructure have not gone unnoticed.

"The efforts to enhance Tanzania's railway infrastructure are recognized by our development partners, making it easier for me to promote the country’s progress in various international forums," he stated.

He added, "Many developed countries in Europe have invested heavily in enabling infrastructure like railways, which has accelerated their economic progress. Tanzania is now on a similar path, and we are seeing the results on the global stage."
