Preparations for the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), famously known as Sabasaba, are officially underway following a high-level meeting of the National Main Committee held today at the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) offices.
The annual event, scheduled to run from June 28 to July 13, 2025, at the Mwl. J.K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds, is expected to attract thousands of local and international exhibitors, business leaders, and investors.
The fair has long served as a vital platform for promoting trade, investment, and innovation in Tanzania and across the region.
Today’s meeting brought together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, united in their goal to enhance the efficiency, safety, and overall experience of the fair.
“We are aiming higher this year,” said TanTrade Director General, Latifa Khamis. “Our focus is not just on increasing participation but also on delivering a more seamless, innovative, and impactful trade fair. We want exhibitors and visitors to leave with real value.”
Key topics discussed included enhancing infrastructure, increasing digital integration, and streamlining services like registration, logistics, and on-site support.
The committee emphasized the importance of learning from the previous year’s challenges to implement meaningful improvements.
“We’ve conducted a thorough evaluation of the 2024 edition and identified areas where we must do better,” said Eng. Abdallah Mwakipesile, Chairperson of the National Main Committee.
“This includes improving traffic flow, strengthening security, and expanding exhibition spaces to accommodate the growing number of participants.”
Special attention is being given to inter-agency collaboration. The committee pledged to improve coordination between customs, immigration, health services, and security personnel to ensure a smooth experience for international guests.
“We want the DITF to reflect the best of Tanzania our hospitality, our business potential, and our readiness to engage with the global market,” added Mwakipesile.
With only two months remaining, the committee has committed to holding regular review meetings to monitor progress and ensure all preparations remain on schedule.
As Tanzania continues to rise as a trade and investment destination, the 49th DITF is expected to play a critical role in showcasing the country’s economic potential and fostering meaningful partnerships at both regional and global levels.
