DC Kubecha: Elders’ Wisdom is the Pillar of Tanga’s Development

The District Commissioner of Tanga, Japhari Kubecha, held a special meeting with elders from Tanga Asili as part of an ongoing initiative to gather insights and advice from elders regarding the district’s development agenda. 

The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between the government and this vital segment of the community.

In his address, DC Kubecha emphasized the importance of involving elders in advising various district leaders. 

He highlighted that the wisdom and experience of elders are invaluable assets that can drive meaningful development.

 Kubecha urged the elders to ensure that each of the 27 wards in the district has at least five elder representatives.

 He noted that the objective is to integrate these elders into government activities from the grassroots to the neighborhood level, enabling them to offer close guidance and help promote good governance.

 DC Kubecha reaffirmed that the contribution of the Tanga Asili elders is crucial in advancing the development agenda and positioning Tanga as the gateway to East Africa’s economy. The theme of the meeting was: “Our Tanga, the Gateway to East Africa’s Economy.”
