The Head of Government Communications at the Ministry of Energy, Neema Mbuja, has stated that the struggles women have undertaken on various platforms, including international ones, to achieve rights, equality, and empowerment are now bearing fruit.
Mbuja made these remarks while reflecting on the journey of women in advocating for their rights, equality, and empowerment ahead of International Women’s Day, which will be nationally commemorated in Arusha.
She noted that the progress seen today is a result of years of dedication by women who pushed for gender equality, fair work opportunities, and participation in leadership roles.
"Women have fought tirelessly to ensure gender balance in workplaces and leadership. Since the 1995 Beijing Conference, the call for equality is no longer just talk; we can see real change happening," she said.
She emphasized that the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has been instrumental in advancing women’s rights and creating opportunities for them to thrive.
She further noted that the Ministry of Energy takes pride in the increasing presence of women in leadership positions, a testament to the ongoing commitment to gender inclusivity.
