Preparations for the highly anticipated volleyball and basketball tournament are now 80% complete, with most tasks already finalized.
The only thing left is the event itself, which will take place from March 6th to 8th this year at the University of Dar es Salaam Sports Ground.
The tournament is being organized by the Launching of RiseHer Sports Club & Scholarship, with participation from teams representing the Tanzania Secondary Schools Sports Association (UMISETA), the Tanzania Higher Education Sports Federation (SHIMIVUTA), and the Tanzania Universities Sports Association (TUSA).
In an interview with The Respondent Online, Julieth Julius Tibanywana, the Chief Executive Officer of the Launching of RiseHer Sports Club & Scholarship, confirmed that 14 teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
Among the volleyball teams are those from Mtwara, Lindi, Filbert Bay, Mwalimu Nyerere, Mbeya, Kiut, and UD-DSM, while the basketball teams include Juhudi, Filbert Bay, IFM, TIA, UD-DSM, Temeke, and Mzumbe.
Julieth emphasized that the main objective of the event is to celebrate the achievements of past players, showcase current talent, and officially launch the club and scholarship.
"We've chosen to organize this event on International Women's Day to raise awareness and encourage greater participation in sports," Julieth stated.
