Nzega – Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has called on residents of Nzega Town to take full advantage of their town’s strategic location to boost economic activities, particularly in the service industry.

Speaking at the official inauguration of the newly constructed Nzega Bus Stand, a project funded by the government at 4.3 billion Tanzanian Shillings, Mr. Majaliwa emphasized the importance of integrating small-scale traders into the town’s growing business ecosystem.

"I direct the executive director and business officers to ensure that small-scale traders are included in business opportunities so that people from all walks of life can operate in a clean and well-organized environment," he stated.

The Prime Minister highlighted Nzega’s pivotal role as a transportation hub, noting that the town serves as a vital connection for travelers moving between different regions of Tanzania and neighboring countries.

"Nzega Bus Stand is a critical transit point for passengers traveling between Dar es Salaam and the Lake Zone regions, as well as those heading to Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This presents immense business opportunities for residents," he said.

Mr. Majaliwa urged local entrepreneurs to invest in essential services such as food, beverages, and recreational facilities, which are in high demand among travelers. He also advised Nzega Town Council to allocate land for the construction of hotels and guesthouses to cater to visitors who may need to stay overnight.

"Trucks and other vehicles transporting goods from Dar es Salaam and Tanga ports require parking and maintenance services. I commend the local authorities for designating areas for these activities," he added.

To support traders in accessing capital, the Prime Minister assured residents that financial institutions are prepared to offer loans, urging local business officers to facilitate connections between entrepreneurs and banks.

"The government has already allocated 2.5 billion Tanzanian Shillings to construct roads linking the Nzega Bus Stand with other parts of the town. There should be no barriers to smooth trade," he concluded.

With its improved infrastructure and strategic position, Nzega is poised to become a thriving business hub, offering significant economic benefits to its residents.
