The Minister of Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, has urged mineral research companies to collaborate with the Tanzanian government as part of its ambitious Mining Vision 2030 plan.

This initiative aims to conduct in-depth mineral research across 50% of Tanzania's land area by 2030.

Minister Mavunde shared these details during a meeting in Toronto, Canada, where he addressed a gathering of global mineral experts, mining companies, and civil society organizations.

He highlighted the favorable investment climate created by the Tanzanian government under President Dr. Samia S. Hassan’s leadership, which he described as a prime opportunity for companies to join efforts with the government.

Mavunde emphasized that the government's goal to expand research areas from 16% to 50% by 2030 cannot be achieved alone and that the private sector's involvement is essential.

While visiting a mining equipment exhibition in Toronto, Minister Mavunde was accompanied by the Tanzanian Ambassador to Canada,  Joseph Sokoine, and experts from the Ministry of Minerals.

During the visit, he directed Dr. Venance Mwasse, the CEO of STAMICO, to find ways to provide small-scale miners with basic research equipment.

This would help small-scale miners identify areas in need of further research when they receive mapping services.

Minister Mavunde’s efforts highlight the importance of cooperation between the government and the private sector in unlocking Tanzania’s mineral potential.
