The government has provided TZS 82.84 billion in loans to 8,275 groups of women, youth, and people with disabilities in the 2024/25 financial year. The funds were issued through the 10% revenue allocation program for local councils.
Minister of State in the President’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), Mohamed Mchengerwa, shared this information while presenting a budget review for 2024/25 and the revenue and expenditure estimates for 2025/26 in parliamentary committee sessions in Dodoma.
He explained that out of the total amount, TZS 40.71 billion went to 4,557 women’s groups, TZS 36.64 billion to 2,827 youth groups, and TZS 5.48 billion to 891 groups of people with disabilities.
To ensure proper loan management, TAMISEMI has set guidelines on loan limits. Under these guidelines, a group can receive a maximum loan of TZS 150 million and a minimum of TZS 500,000.
Minister Mchengerwa also noted improvements in the supply of essential medicines in health centers. The availability of medicines has increased from 63% in the 2023/24 financial year to 79.3% in January 2025, reflecting a 16.3% improvement.
