March 20, 2025 – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals has lauded the Ministry of Energy for the significant progress made in constructing its new headquarters in the Government City of Mtumba, Dodoma, which has now reached 94% completion.

During an inspection visit, Committee Chairperson David Mathayo expressed admiration for the quality and aesthetics of the building.

“We have toured the entire facility, and it is evident that excellent work has been done. Both the interior and exterior designs are impressive. We extend our congratulations to the Ministry of Energy for this achievement. More importantly, we commend President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for ensuring that funds are available for the construction of such modern government buildings,” said Mathayo.

He further praised the Ministry’s leadership and management for their diligent supervision of the construction process, ensuring that contractors receive timely payments.

Mathayo urged the Ministry to finalize the remaining minor works promptly so that employees could transition smoothly into the new premises.

Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Khatibu Kazungu, confirmed that ministry staff are expected to relocate to the new headquarters before May 2025.

“The major construction work has been completed, and we anticipate a seamless transition. This move will consolidate our workforce under one roof, improving efficiency compared to the current situation where employees are divided between Kikuyu and Mtumba,” Dr. Kazungu stated.

The near-completion of the ministry’s headquarters marks a crucial milestone in the government's ongoing efforts to modernize public service infrastructure and centralize operations in the capital city, Dodoma.

With this development, the Ministry of Energy is set to operate in an environment conducive to productivity and service delivery, aligning with the broader national vision for efficient governance.
