In celebration of International Women’s Day, Dar es Salaam will host a special forum on March 4, 2025, at the Ubungo Plaza.
The event aims to highlight the importance of recognizing and appreciating the role of women in society, while promoting gender equality.
Speaking to journalists today, March 3, 2025, the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila, emphasized that this year’s celebrations coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, which advocates for the empowerment of women and gender equality.
He encouraged women to actively engage and collaborate with various stakeholders to raise awareness on these important issues.
Chalamila also announced that while the national celebration will take place on March 8, 2025, in Arusha, Dar es Salaam’s commemoration will be held at the Leaders Club grounds.
In addition, over 1,000 free gas cylinders will be distributed to women as part of supporting President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan's efforts to promote the use of clean cooking energy and improve the health of women.
Furthermore, Chalamila highlighted that the government acknowledges the crucial role of women and has designated special areas for women to engage in food-related businesses during the fasting period.
He urged women to take full advantage of this opportunity, along with other business opportunities available 24/7.
Additionally, Chalamila encouraged women to explore the various loan opportunities offered by local governments through banks.
He emphasized that, in recognition of women’s contributions, the government has allocated special loans for women, with 4% of loans from local authorities nationwide reserved specifically for them.
National celebrations for International Women’s Day will be held on March 8, 2025, in Arusha, where President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to be the guest of honor.
