Samwel Kapungu, the Head Coach of the Tanzania National Boxing Team (BFT), has emphasized that the team is heading to Serbia to compete, not just to learn, in the upcoming World Championship, which kicks off early this month.
Tanzania is one of the countries that has earned the privilege of representing the nation in the women's World Championship.
Speaking about their preparations, Kapungu expressed confidence that the team is well-prepared for the challenge ahead.
"We are sending a team to compete, not merely to participate. Our experience in international competitions has proven successful, as I’ve returned with medals after participating in various international tournaments," he stated.
Boxer Halima Vunjabei also shared her optimism, stating that the team is in good form and promised to deliver strong performances at the tournament.
"Personally, I pledge to give my best, fighting with everything I’ve got, to secure victory for myself and my teammates," Halima said.
