Taifa Stars head coach Hemed Selemani has named a squad of 24 players to prepare for their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Morocco.
Speaking to journalists today, March 14, 2025, Selemani said the team will start training tomorrow in Dar es Salaam.
The squad includes Yakuob Suleman (JKT Tanzania), Ally Salim, Shomary Kapombe, Abdulazack Hamza, Mohamed Hussein, Kibu Denis, and Yusuph Kagoma (Simba).
Other players are Hussein Masaranga (Singida Black Stars), Lusajo Mwaikenda, Iddy Selemani, Pascal Msindo, and Fisal Salum (Azam).
Also selected are Dickson Job, Ibrahim Abdula, Mudathir Yahya, and Clement Mzize (Yanga), along with Mirajy Abdallah (Coastal Union) and Haki Mnoga (Salford City, England).
The squad also features Novatus Miroshi (Coztepe FC, Turkey), Charles Mmombwa (Newcastle United Jets, Australia), Simon Msuva (Al-Taraba SC, Iraq), Selemani Mwalimu (Wydad Casablanca, Morocco), and Kelvin John (Aalborg BK, Denmark).
Coach Selemani explained that team captain Mbwana Samatta is missing from the squad due to injury. "This is a great opportunity for young players to step up and prove themselves," he said.
