As Tanzania moves toward the highly anticipated 2025 general election, the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), has again demonstrated its formidable organizational strength.
Under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the party has embraced a vision of inclusivity, economic progress, and social transformation.
Supporting her are key figures like Dr. Emanuel Nchimbi, the party’s Secretary-General, whose strategic acumen continues to refine CCM’s electoral approach.
While much attention often gravitates toward the party’s youth wing (UVCCM) and women’s wing (UWT), an unsung hero in this campaign is WAZAZI (the parents' wing of CCM).
Under the stewardship of Ally Hapi, WAZAZI’s Secretary-General, and Fadhil Maganya, its chairperson, this wing is emerging as a pivotal force in ensuring electoral victory.
With a robust structure, deep community ties, and a unique ability to shape voter behavior at the grassroots level, WAZAZI is poised to play a decisive role in securing CCM’s dominance in the forthcoming polls.
CCM’s success in previous elections has been driven by its ability to engage citizens at all levels. While UVCCM energizes the youth and UWT consolidates female voters, WAZAZI’s potential lies in its ability to influence families, especially the millions of Tanzanian parents who form the moral and social backbone of communities.
The 2025 election will not just be about youthful enthusiasm or gender-based mobilization; it will also be about family stability, intergenerational influence, and the wisdom of seasoned voters all areas where WAZAZI excels.
Unlike UVCCM, which is largely shaped by contemporary political activism, or UWT, which focuses on gender-specific issues, WAZAZI’s strength is its ability to bridge generational gaps.
Parents influence their children, wives, and their peers, making them trusted messengers in political discourse. By tapping into this trust, CCM has an opportunity to solidify its support in homes across Tanzania.
WAZAZI, as a wing of CCM, is perfectly positioned to translate Samia’s vision into a powerful electoral message. Under her leadership, Tanzania has experienced growth in family-centered policies such as free primary and secondary education, maternal healthcare improvements, and economic policies that empower small-scale entrepreneurs.
The emergence of Ally Hapi the Secretary-General of WAZAZI has reinvigorated the wing’s operations. A dynamic leader with deep political experience, Hapi understands the strategic role of parents in elections.
His ability to mobilize grassroots support, conduct community engagement programs, and align WAZAZI’s goals with CCM’s broader electoral vision makes him an indispensable asset in the 2025 campaign.
Similarly, even by his cool posture, Fadhil Maganya, the Chairperson has championed the wing’s mission by emphasizing moral values, cultural preservation, and responsible citizenship values that resonate with Tanzanian families.
Under his leadership, WAZAZI has enhanced its grassroots mobilization efforts, ensuring that every household understands CCM’s vision and why President Samia deserves a second term.
While UVCCM plays a crucial role in energizing young voters and UWT ensures gender inclusivity, WAZAZI offers a unique and strategic electoral advantage: Mature and Stable Voters.
Unlike the youth wing, which engages a demographic that is often politically fluid, WAZAZI deals with parents, who are more stable in their voting patterns and deeply invested in national progress.
Their political decisions are often guided by long-term considerations rather than short-term excitement. WAZAZI also guides the youth to that ethos.
Intergenerational Influence: WAZAZI members do not just vote; they influence their children and younger relatives. Many first-time voters take political cues from their parents, making WAZAZI a crucial player in shaping opinions among the youth.
Moral Authority in Society: While UWT focuses on empowering women and UVCCM drives youthful energy, WAZAZI carries a moral and societal responsibility.
Parents are seen as custodians of tradition, discipline, and wisdom qualities that enhance their credibility when advocating for CCM’s agenda.
Deep Community Roots: Parents are embedded in every facet of society, from churches and mosques to schools and markets. Their opinions carry weight, making WAZAZI’s outreach efforts highly effective.
With the election approaching, WAZAZI must seize this opportunity to maximize its impact. The groundwork laid by President Samia has set the stage for success. However, the following steps are crucial:
Enhanced Grassroots Engagement: WAZAZI must increase community meetings, door-to-door campaigns, and household conversations.
Social media and digital outreach: While traditionally strong in face-to-face mobilization, WAZAZI should harness digital platforms to connect with younger parents and modern voters.
WAZAZI is not just another wing of CCM it is the anchor of family-driven political influence. As Tanzania approaches the 2025 elections, its role must not be underestimated. Under the visionary leadership of Fadhil Maganya and Ally Hapi, WAZAZI has the potential to tilt the electoral balance in CCM’s favor.
By leveraging its strengths deep community ties, moral authority, and intergenerational influence WAZAZI will play a critical role in securing CCM’s continued dominance. The time has come for the parents’ wing to step into the limelight and lead CCM to yet another decisive victory!
