“Mr. Speaker, the construction of the substation has been completed. Currently, the ongoing work involves the construction of the power transmission line.

Once this is completed, the substation will begin its operations,” said Kapinga.

In response to a query from the Member of Parliament for Nanyumbu, Ally Mhata, regarding when the government would reduce the cost of electricity connections in the Mangaka and Kilimanihewa wards, as requested by residents, Kapinga explained that, due to the current situation across the country, there are certain rural areas where electricity connections are available at a cost of 27,000 Tanzanian Shillings.

She added that areas with characteristics of rural towns are charged 320,960 Tanzanian Shillings for electricity connections.

Therefore, for the Mangaka and Kilimanihewa wards, which are classified as rural towns, the electricity connection cost is 320,960 Tanzanian Shillings.

Kapinga further noted that the government is actively reviewing the situation to explore the possibility of reducing the costs based on ongoing assessments.

Regarding the 105 hamlets in Nanyumbu District that have not yet received electricity, Kapinga stated that the government is implementing various projects to provide electricity to these hamlets, including 15 hamlets in the current budget.

In the upcoming fiscal year, 38 additional hamlets will be added to reduce the number of unconnected hamlets.
