The Parliament has approved an allocation of TSh 5,000,000,000 to the National Land Use Planning Commission to implement a Land Use Planning Program for 333 villages.
This resolution followed a meeting on February 4, 2025, between the Parliamentary Committee on Land, Natural Resources, and Tourism and officials from the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements, as well as the Ministry of Finance.
The Ministry of Lands successfully executed the land use planning program as outlined, contributing to the continued development and well-being of the nation.
Presenting the committee's report covering the period from February 2024 to January 2025, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Land, Natural Resources, and Tourism, Timotheo Mzava, highlighted that the committee compiled the report after conducting site visits and evaluating the ministry's projects and activities.
"In the 2024/2025 financial year, the Ministry of Lands planned a special program to design land use plans for 333 villages, with an allocated budget of TSh 5,000,000,000 for its implementation," Mzava stated.
In his contribution to the report, the Minister for Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements, Deogratius Ndejembi, assured the Parliament that his ministry would execute all the resolutions passed by Parliament while ensuring that all systems are effectively integrated.
"Parliament's resolutions reflect the voices of the citizens, who are advising us on the necessary actions in this sector.
We are committed to ensuring that systems work in harmony, and we will ensure that all 184 local councils are equipped with the e-Land system," Minister Ndejembi remarked.
Hon. Dr. Florence Samizi, for her part, underscored the importance of effective land use planning in the country and urged the government to continue allocating funds to the National Land Use Planning Commission to enable it to extend planning efforts to all villages nationwide
