Eng. Godfrey Kasekenya, the Deputy Minister of Works, has instructed the contractor, M/s Beijing Construction Engineering Group Co. Ltd (BCEG), to ensure the completion of Tabora’s airport by February 28, 2025.

During an inspection of the ongoing construction, Eng. Kasekenya expressed satisfaction with the 90% progress achieved so far.

"If you intensify efforts, the remaining 10% can be completed within this month, allowing us to invite senior leaders for the airport’s inauguration," said Eng. Kasekenya.

He also extended gratitude to President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for the allocation of over 24.6 billion shillings to renovate and modernize the airport.

Eng. Kasekenya highlighted the significant opportunities the modern airport will bring for the people of Tabora, encouraging them to seize new investment and business prospects.

The Deputy Minister further noted that the construction of airports in the western region—specifically in Kigoma, Sumbawanga, and Shinyanga—is progressing alongside Tabora's, contributing to the enhancement of regional air transport.

Eng. Kasekenya also called on the TANROADS manager in Tabora to ensure that the completion of the airport is complemented by the construction of quality access roads, ensuring maximum impact for the local community.

Eng. Rafael Mlimaji, the TANROADS Manager for Tabora, emphasized that the ongoing construction of key infrastructure, including a passenger terminal, control tower, parking facilities, fencing, weather station, and access roads, will significantly boost the region’s economy.

"This airport will not only improve transportation services but will also enhance business opportunities, increase agricultural and commercial production, and contribute to the growth of tourism in the region," Eng. Mlimaji said.
