RC Chalamila announces sale of Mabwepande plots

By Our Reporter

The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner (RC),  Albert Chalamila, has officially announced the commencement of plot sales in the Mabwepande area, located within the Kinondoni District.

This initiative follows the directive from President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, which allows unauthorized settlers in the area to purchase the land at reduced prices.

During a press briefing on February 8, 2025, RC Chalamila, accompanied by the Regional Administrative Secretary Dr. Toba Nguvila, the Kinondoni District Commissioner, officials from the Dar es Salaam Development Corporation (DDC), and land experts from the Kinondoni Municipal Council, confirmed that over 2,274 plots have been surveyed, with some having been illegally occupied.

The sale of these plots is set to begin next week, offering long-time residents the opportunity to purchase them at a reduced price of 3,000 Tanzanian shillings per square meter.

For those seeking to buy unoccupied plots, the price will range between 15,000 and 20,000 shillings per square meter, depending on the intended use—whether residential, commercial, or other purposes.

RC Chalamila also reassured residents and potential buyers that essential services, including electricity and water, have already been extended to the area, with plans for road construction to tarmac standards included in TANROADS' development agenda.

Furthermore, Arkadius Haule, the City Planning Officer for Kinondoni, confirmed that all the plots have been properly surveyed and will be sold based on the buyer's needs.

Ali Mirambo, the General Manager of DDC, also emphasized that the land is owned by the corporation, ensuring the legitimacy of the sale.
