YAS Tanzania has once again proven its excellence in the telecommunications industry by winning the "Ookla Speedtest Award for the Fastest Mobile Network in Tanzania" for 2024. The announcement, made today in Dar es Salaam, cements YAS Tanzania's reputation as a leader in delivering high-speed internet services.
Mr. Jerome Albou, Acting Managing Director of YAS Tanzania, expressed pride in the company’s achievement, marking the second consecutive year of winning this award.
He emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting international standards through continuous investment and innovation.
“YAS Tanzania has made remarkable strides in providing high-speed internet, ensuring our services meet the evolving needs of customers and align with global benchmarks,” he said.
Mr. Albou revealed that YAS Tanzania has invested over 1 trillion Tanzanian shillings to enhance connectivity across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. This investment has resulted in the installation of 4,000 state-of-the-art 4G towers, with 5G technology now available in major cities.
“Our mission is to revolutionize the telecommunications sector by delivering advanced technological solutions that support business growth, ensure equal access to communication services, and foster innovation. By doing so, we aim to contribute significantly to the nation’s economic progress,” added Mr. Albou.
During the presentation, Mr. Osama Nawayse, a representative from Ookla, highlighted YAS Tanzania’s impressive performance. The company recorded a speed score of 68.81%, surpassing all other telecom providers in the country.
It also led in medium download speeds with a score of 43%, dominating multiple categories in the assessment of internet accessibility and performance.
“No other telecom company in Tanzania has achieved the level of speed and reliability demonstrated by YAS Tanzania,” Mr. Nawayse said.
