As part of her ongoing outreach to boost local economic and social growth, Kagera Regional Commissioner Hajat Fatma Mwassa visited the Kagera Press Club (KPC) today, meeting with local journalists to discuss their roles and challenges while reaffirming her support for the media's work in the region.

In a speech to journalists from various media outlets, the regional boss praised their commitment to informing the public and promoting development across Kagera’s sectors.

Reporters highlighted several challenges they face, such as limited resources, inadequate allowances, the need for a more spacious and equipped office, and more opportunities for professional development. They appealed for her support in addressing these issues and fostering a collaborative environment.

Commissioner Mwassa pledged her commitment to strengthening cooperation with the press, including organizing a seminar for knowledge exchange and supporting the KPC with additional office space, furnishings, and facilities.

This support would allow journalists to work more effectively while reducing congestion at the current KPC office.

KPC representative Benson Eustace, from Azam News, expressed appreciation for the RC’s visit and her commitment to addressing the press club's challenges. He emphasized the positive impact this cooperation could have on local journalism and community development.

The visit concluded with a shared moment of coffee and ginger tea, symbolizing a unified vision for the future. KPC, which has over sixty members active across Kagera, looks forward to an enhanced partnership with regional leadership.
