Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Doto Biteko is set to grace the UDSM Marathon as the guest of honor tomorrow, December 7, 2024, in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking to Responded Online, the Assistant Coordinator of the event, Daniel Stephen, confirmed that preparations are complete, with 2,200 participants—including individuals, organizations, institutions, and companies—registered for the 5km, 10km, and 21.1km races.

“This year’s preparations have gone smoothly. The marathon is a continuation of our annual efforts to support fundraising for the fifth phase of constructing a student center here at the university,” said Stephen.

He revealed the prize structure for the 21.1km race: the winner will receive Sh500,000, while the second and third-place finishers will take home Sh400,000 and Sh300,000, respectively. For the 10km category, the top finisher will earn Sh400,000, with the runners-up receiving Sh300,000 and Sh200,000, alongside medals.

Anticipation is high for the event, which has become a hallmark in the university’s calendar, fostering both sportsmanship and community support.
