The
Immigration Department in Dar es Salaam is calling on residents to report any
foreign nationals entering the country.
At
a recent meeting with Chairpersons of Local Government Authorities in the
region, Capt. Elizabeth Mzimya, the Dar es Salaam Immigration Officer,
emphasized the important role that local leaders play in identifying
non-Tanzanians entering their communities.
“Local
government chairpersons, together with the citizens in their areas, have to
report any foreigners who come into Tanzania,” Capt. Mzimya stated.
She
also highlighted that any concerns about boda boda riders engaging in informal
businesses should be reported to the Immigration Department for further
investigation.
Additionally,
Capt. Mzimya clarified that the department does not have agents who issue
passports. All passport applications must be processed directly at the Immigration
offices within the country.
The call to action aims to ensure better monitoring of immigration and maintain national security.
