The 6th International Mining Investment Conference in Tanzania is set to kick off from November 19 to 21, 2024, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Center in Dar es Salaam, with over 1,500 delegates expected from around the world.
The conference aims to attract more investment to Tanzania’s mining sector and strengthen partnerships among key stakeholders, while enhancing mineral production and ensuring that the country’s natural resources translate into economic and social benefits for its citizens.
During a press briefing in Dar es Salaam on November 14, 2024, Minister of Minerals, Hon. Anthony Mavunde, highlighted the conference theme, “Adding Value to Minerals for Economic and Social Development,” emphasizing its importance in attracting investment and fostering economic growth through mineral value addition.
“This conference provides a platform for stakeholders to come together, exchange expertise, explore new opportunities, and discuss the future of Tanzania’s mining sector,” said Minister Mavunde.
“Participants will gain insights into government policies, legal and economic issues related to mining, and see the latest technology and innovations in mineral exploration, extraction, and value addition. These efforts will ensure that Tanzania’s mineral wealth continues to positively impact the lives of its people,” he added.
He further emphasized that this year’s theme underscores the importance of mineral processing as a means of driving economic and social gains for Tanzania.
Minister Mavunde shared that the government is actively promoting investment in local mineral processing industries to boost job creation and income generation within the country.
This international event is expected to attract high-level delegates, including sector ministers from across Africa, executives from leading global mining companies, 31 ambassadors representing their respective nations, and both public and private entities active in mining.
According to Minister Mavunde, the conference will provide a unique opportunity for potential investors and businesses to explore the numerous investment possibilities available in Tanzania’s growing mining sector.
President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan will officially inaugurate the conference on November 19, 2024. Minister Mavunde noted her dedication to ensuring that Tanzania derives maximum benefits from its natural resources.
Adding a highlight to the conference, a “Mining Night” gala will be held on November 20, 2024. This special evening will honor outstanding stakeholders in the mining industry and showcase Tanzania’s rich variety of mineral products, including precious gemstones, illustrating the vital role that mining plays in Tanzanians’ everyday lives.
The conference will conclude on November 21, 2024, with an official closing address by the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
