Tanzania has proudly produced two international referees in wheelchair basketball, marking a significant achievement for the country in the global sports arena.

Mary Arthur, the spokesperson for the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF), announced that the referees in question are Karim Mbuke and Shaban Mahobonya.

Karim Mbuke, in particular, took part in an intensive training program organized by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF). The training, which took place from November 19 to 24 this year, provided specialized education for wheelchair basketball officials.

The course was divided into three key categories: athletes under 30 years of age, referee trainers, and game commissioners. It brought together participants from 34 countries around the world, further emphasizing its international scope and significance.

"Congratulations to Karim Mbuke for his outstanding representation of Tanzania and his contribution to promoting wheelchair basketball on the global stage," Arthur expressed, highlighting the importance of the achievement for both the individuals involved and the country’s sports development.

This accomplishment underscores Tanzania’s growing presence in adaptive sports, showcasing the nation's commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in the sporting world.
