President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania has made several significant leadership appointments, as confirmed by a statement from the Secretary to the Government, Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka, on November 9, 2024.

Prof. Harun Jeremia Mapesa has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial University, succeeding Prof. Shadrack Mwakalila, whose term has come to an end.

Before this, Prof. Mapesa was a Senior Lecturer at Mzumbe University. Additionally, Eng. Peter Rudolf Ulanga has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Tanzania National Airlines (ATCL), taking over from Eng. Ladislaus Matindi, who has retired.

These appointments reflect the government's commitment to filling key leadership roles, but they also highlight the potential implications of frequent leadership changes

Critics say that inconsistent appointments can sometimes disrupt continuity and long-term planning, making it essential for leaders to establish a stable vision that ensures sustained growth and development across key sectors.
