The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has awarded five million shillings to Simba SC as part of her ongoing efforts to motivate teams excelling in international competitions.
The financial reward follows Simba's impressive 1-0 victory over Angola’s Bravos, a match that saw the team secure crucial points in their international campaign. This reward is part of President Samia's "goli la mama" initiative, where she recognizes the success of Tanzanian teams in global tournaments.
Simba’s captain, Mohammed Hussein ‘Zimbwe Jr’, expressed heartfelt thanks to President Samia for her continued support and encouragement. He also promised to maintain the team's focus on securing more victories in future matches.
“We are grateful to President Samia. We promise not to let her down. Today we won 1-0, but we are confident that we will score even more goals in the upcoming matches,” said Zimbwe Jr.
Zubeda Hassan, the newly appointed Acting CEO of Simba SC, also expressed her appreciation to President Samia for her unwavering support. She pledged that the team would continue working closely with the leadership to achieve exceptional results in both the Tanzanian Premier League and on the international stage.
“We thank President Samia for her continued support. What Simba has to say to her is that we have no words, but we will let our actions on the field speak for themselves,” Zubeda said.
This recognition highlights the growing support for Tanzanian sports, particularly football, as Simba SC continues to shine in international competitions.
