Halotel launches eSIM technology, bringing digital innovation to Tanzanian telecommunications

In a major leap toward digital innovation, Halotel, one of Tanzania’s leading telecommunications companies, has introduced eSIM (Embedded SIM) technology, eliminating the need for a physical SIM card. 

At the Dar es Salaam launch event on November 26, 2024, Halotel’s Equipment Planning Engineer, Mr. Leakey Wilson, emphasized the company's commitment to offering customers an enhanced and more flexible experience. 

“This eSIM technology is a significant step in modernizing our services. “It brings unprecedented convenience and security to our customers while aligning with global advancements,” Wilson said.

One of the most notable features of the eSIM is its network flexibility. 

“With the eSIM, users can easily switch networks from Halotel to other providers without the hassle of changing a physical SIM card,” Mr. Wilson explained, adding that “It’s as simple as a few settings changes, giving our customers control over their connectivity like never before.”

The eSIM technology also offers enhanced security, as it reduces risks associated with the loss or damage of a traditional SIM card. 

“The eSIM is embedded directly into the device, which makes it more secure. Our customers no longer have to worry about the physical vulnerability of a removable SIM,” Wilson added. 

This technology also features broad compatibility with modern smartphones, tablets, and even wearable devices. 

“We’ve ensured that the eSIM works with a wide range of devices, providing a seamless experience across various gadgets that customers use daily,” he said.
