Dodoma Women Entrepreneurs set to boost economic growth with new opportunities

The Dodoma Region Women's Economic Empowerment Forum has come together to express their gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for fostering an environment that supports women’s economic growth and expands opportunities in Dodoma, benefiting many women.

These sentiments were shared yesterday by Forum Chairperson Maryrhobi Mabhaya during a Women’s Conference held in Dodoma to celebrate President Samia’s efforts, which have driven development in the region and created valuable economic opportunities.

“Today’s Dodoma is not like the Dodoma of the past; you can’t talk about its progress without mentioning President Samia. There are now abundant economic opportunities for women, which, if seized, will transform the economic lives of women in Dodoma. Our goal as a forum is to establish a large shopping mall and create a special business zone for women,” Maryrhobi said.

Forum Patron Tunu Pinda encouraged the women of Dodoma to take advantage of these opportunities fostered by President Samia to grow and strengthen their economic positions.

In his remarks, the event’s Guest of Honor, Dodoma Urban MP and Minister of Minerals Anthony Mavunde, highlighted the increased economic opportunities since the government moved its operations to Dodoma. He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting women through favorable laws and policies.

Mavunde noted that President Samia has reintroduced a 10% fund for women and amended the Public Procurement Act, requiring procurement bodies to allocate 30% of their purchases to special groups, including women.

“I will continue to support efforts to economically empower women in practical ways. This year, I will hand over sunflower oil processing equipment to the Ipagala Women’s Group as part of my commitment to establish a value-addition factory each year,” Mavunde said.

The women of Dodoma also presented an award to Anthony Mavunde, recognizing his dedication and significant contributions to advancing the welfare of women in the region.
