The
Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila has officially launched
the much-anticipated December Bata Festival, a key event in the city’s end-of-year
celebrations.
During
a press conference at Serena Hotel, Chalamila highlighted the significance of
the festival, noting that the country has faced numerous challenges this year,
including the tragic collapse of a building in Kariakoo. He emphasized that
such events were a reminder to honor and appreciate the resilience of the
nation and its people.
"Bata
la Disemba" is more than just a celebration," said Chalamila.
"It’s a time for us to showcase pride in our city's economic vibrancy and
cultural richness. This carnival is a tribute to Dar es Salaam’s growth and our
collective spirit."
The
festival, which will run from December 6th to 8th, promises a wide range of
entertainment, including live performances, food, and various activities, all
sponsored by Heineken Beverages.
According
to Heineken's country manager in Tanzania, the event is designed to foster
unity and community spirit, while also providing significant economic
opportunities for local businesses.
"Beyond the entertainment value, this
event creates substantial economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs and
small businesses. As the country's economy strengthens, we are proud to
contribute to its growth through such initiatives," he said.
The
Bata Festival will take place at the Leaders Club in Dar es Salaam, culminating
in a grand celebration on the night of December 8th, with an expected
attendance of over 10,000 people. The event will feature performances from top
music artists as well as emerging talents, offering a vibrant atmosphere for
both young and old alike.
In
line with its commitment to sustainability, the Regional Commissioner’s office
will distribute 1,000 to 1,500 clean energy gas cylinders during the festival
as part of an ongoing campaign to promote clean cooking energy across the city.
Chalamila
also took the opportunity to encourage all citizens to vote in the upcoming
local government elections on November 27th, urging them with the slogan,
"Vote once, celebrate with three days of Bata."
Social
influencer Doto. Magari echoed the sentiment, stating, "The Bata Festival
is a gift from the people’s leader, and we have to celebrate in full joy."
Adding
to the excitement, prominent local figure Mwijaku commended the Regional
Commissioner for his effective engagement with various businesses and for
addressing urban challenges swiftly.
"Since
independence, this city has never been without its challenges, but through it
all, the Bata celebrations have continued. This December, we have a reason to
rejoice, and it's a testament to the resilience of Dar es Salaam and Tanzania
as a whole," he said.
The
event is set to be a grand celebration of both the city’s achievements and the
nation’s progress as it heads into its 73rd year of independence. With a focus
on community, culture, and economic growth, the December Bata Festival promises
to be an unforgettable experience for all.
