Dar es Salaam  The Australian High Commissioner to Tanzania, H.E. Jenny Da Rin, officially presented her credentials to Tanzanian President H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan on Wednesday, marking a key milestone in the growing partnership between the two nations.

Australia and Tanzania enjoy a vibrant relationship built on strong people-to-people links. Over 7,000 Australians visit Tanzania annually, while the Australia Awards Program has provided life-changing educational opportunities for many Tanzanians. Australian volunteers have supported Tanzania’s development since 1964, further cementing the bond between the two countries.

Economic ties have surged, particularly in mining. Australian investments in Tanzania now exceed Sh10 trillion (USD 3.6 billion), with 35 Australian companies involved in mineral exploration, mining, and value addition. These firms operate with a commitment to world-class Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.

In August, Tanzania’s Minister of Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, participated in Africa Down Under, Australia’s leading Africa-focused mining conference. He engaged in bilateral talks with Australia’s Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Tim Watts MP.

Meanwhile, Tanzania’s Commissioner for Minerals, Dr. Abdul Mwanga, is currently in Australia pursuing mining-related studies under the Australia Awards Program.

Australia is also a strong partner in Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050. Collaborative projects have targeted education, agriculture, women’s empowerment, climate resilience, energy, and maternal and child health. Since 2020, Australia has contributed nearly AUD 2 million to these efforts through its Direct Aid and NGO Cooperation Programs.

“It was a pleasure to present my credentials to H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan,” said H.E. Jenny Da Rin. “I look forward to deepening our cooperation with the Tanzanian Government, expanding trade and investment, and strengthening the connections between our people.”

This moment reinforces Australia’s commitment to a thriving partnership with Tanzania, advancing shared goals and fostering sustainable development.
