Yanga outclass KenGold

A 13th minute towering header by Young Africans center-back Ibrahim Bacca awarded his side a narrow 1-0 win over KenGold at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya on Wednesday.

It was the second victory for Yanga in the progressing Premier League campaign and have so far bagged 6 points from two matches.

For KenGold, they suffered a fifth straight defeat as they find it hard to cope with the demands of the top flight league, not a convincing start for them.

Just two minutes into the first half, KenGold goalie Castor Mhagama made two important saves to deny the visitors from taking an early lead.

But, in the 13th minute, a free powerful header by Bacca drove Yanga upfront as he connected a well delivered set-piece from Stephanie Aziz Ki.

The goal sparked more attacks from Miguel Gamondi's charges as they wanted to stretch the lead but at this moment, KenGold were defending well to repel extra damage.

Clement Mzize's thunderous strike in the 41st minute was expertly saved by goalie Mhagama for a fruitless corner, the last goal attempt for the visitors in the opening half of the encounter.

At restart, Yanga continued to dominate the game and their best chance arrived in the 59th minute courtesy of Maxi Nzengeli whose shot was punched to safety by KenGold shot-stopper Mhagama.

However, Yanga survived from conceding a goal in the 84th minute as Helbert Lukindo's short range header narrowly crossed the goal line, preventing the hosts from balancing the match.

Few minutes later, substitute Pacome Zouzoua also had an opportunity to increase the tally after a quick transition only to be denied by the hosting side shot-stopper.

In an early match at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam, hosts JKT Tanzania picked a comfortable 2-1 win over Coastal Union.

Hassan Dilunga netted through the spot-kick in the 14th minute to put the home owners in the driving seat of the match making him the first JKT Tanzania player to score this season in the league.

But, Coastal Union came back into the game in the 27th minute through John Makwata to balance the equation and make the first half elapse 1-1.

In the second half, Shinza Ramadhani increased the tally for JKT Tanzania in the 48th minute that completely sealed the deal for the hosts who cherished their first victory of the campaign.

It was a fourth defeat for the Tanga based club who are yet to celebrate maximum points as the going seems hard for them in the contest.
