Dar es Salaam-The Legal Director of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) and Chairperson of the Women in Aviation Forum in Tanzania Maria Makalla Memba, September 22, 2024 – announced the launch of a logo design contest for girls aged 14 to 20 across the country. This initiative coincides with the upcoming inaugural leadership conference for women in the aviation sector, set to take place on October 31, 2024, in Dar es Salaam.

The Women in Aviation Forum was officially launched in 2023 by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania during the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the TCAA. Memba expressed excitement about the forthcoming conference, which will gather female pilots, aircraft engineers, air traffic controllers, flight attendants, and security officers in the aviation industry.

“This conference aims to share achievements, challenges, opportunities, and efficiencies within the aviation sector,” Memba stated, emphasizing the forum's commitment to empowering women in the field.

The event will be the first of its kind, focusing on women leaders in aviation, followed by a subsequent meeting that will include a broader range of professionals, including those in entry-level positions. The forum seeks to inspire the community, particularly young girls, to pursue science education and engage with the aviation industry.

Interested participants for the conference can register online through the TCAA website, while contestants in the logo design contest are invited to submit their entries via the authority’s postal address. The winner of the contest will be announced on the day of the conference, adding excitement to this significant event for women in aviation.
