Simba Queens have secured a semi-final slot of the CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA qualifiers after defeating Kawempe Muslim Ladies 3-0 at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Ethiopia on Wednesday.

Goals by Vivian Corazone, Jentrix Shikangwa and Elizabeth Wambui have enabled Juma Mgunda's side to confidently step into the last four phase of the competition with one match in hand.

The sweet victory takes them to 6 points after two games to lead group B of the qualifiers as they expect to play PVP Buyenzi to wrap up their group stage assignments.

In their first game, Simba Queens registered a massive 5-0 triumph over FAD Ethiopia hence they have netted eight goals in two matches with a even sheet in each match.

According to the format of the contest, two top teams from group A and B will qualify for the semi-finals whose winners will meet in the finals to produce one team that will represent CECAFA in the next edition of CAF Women's Champions League.

Simba Queens participated in the 2022 edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco where they reach the knockout stage losing to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in semifinals.

As such, Mgunda's ladies are eyeing for the opportunity to appear at the women's champions league finals for the second time to become the only side in Tanzania to make such significant milestone.
