IRINGA. A Lawyer, Sosten Mbedule has donated sports equipment to the Iringa District Council to support their teams in the upcoming National Local Government Workers’ Sports Tournament (SHIMISEMITA).
Mbedule provided six sets of sports gear and four footballs following a request from the council. The council had sought assistance to ensure their participation in the SHIMISEMITA tournament in Mwanza.
Mbedule responded to the request through the local branch of the ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Iringa.
Cultural and Sports Officer Sakina Mgaya expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are very thankful to Mr. Mbedule for this support. His donation will enable our team to participate fully in the tournament.”
Mbedule emphasized the significance of community involvement in sports and praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her efforts to promote sports in Tanzania. “It’s important for the community to get involved in sports. I’m inspired by our President’s dedication to promoting sports across the country,” Mbedule stated.
Iringa District Council employees have already begun training for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from August 24 to September 5, 2024.
